What counts as a steep-slope commercial roof?
Anything pitched above about 3:12 — the churches, schools, and multi-building campuses that use the same shingle and metal systems a house does, just across a far larger area with more valleys, dormers, and transitions to detail correctly.
How is a commercial shingle roof different from a residential one?
The materials are often identical; the logistics are not. Scale brings phased tear-off so the building is never left open, staging that keeps entrances and parking usable, and coordination around services, classes, or business hours. Most of these campuses stayed fully occupied while we worked.
How long does a church or school roof replacement take?
It depends on area and access, but far less time than people expect when it is planned properly. We replaced 23,000 square feet at Connection United Methodist in three days so the church could hold its Christmas Eve services, and a 14,000 square foot preschool roof in two.
Can a building stay open during a roof replacement?
Yes, and nearly all of ours do. It takes phased sequencing, controlled debris management, daily cleanup, and continuous communication with whoever runs the building. On an active preschool campus with a playground beside the work area, that planning is the job.
