Architectural

An architectural — or dimensional — shingle is a laminated asphalt shingle built from two or more bonded layers, which gives it depth, shadow lines, and far more weight than a flat three-tab. That extra mass is why it carries higher wind ratings and lasts roughly a decade longer.

Typically 25–30 years in Middle Tennessee, and CertainTeed Landmark and GAF Timberline are both warranted to a lifetime limited term when installed as a complete system by a certified contractor. Attic ventilation affects the real-world number as much as the shingle does.

Both are premium architectural shingles and both perform well. Landmark carries a slightly heavier mat and a broader color palette; GAF Timberline HDZ has the stronger nailing zone for installers and a well-regarded wind warranty. We are certified for both, so the choice comes down to color, budget, and which system warranty you want registered.
