Brava is a synthetic composite tile molded from recycled polymers and color-blended through the full thickness of the tile, so a chip does not expose a different color underneath. It is cast from real slate and cedar, which is why it reads as natural material from the street.

For most homes, yes. Brava carries the appearance at roughly a quarter of the weight, needs no structural reinforcement, will not rot, split, or host insects like cedar, and does not break underfoot like slate. Genuine slate still outlasts it on a century timescale, at far greater cost and weight.

Fifty years or more. The panels lock together with concealed fasteners and no exposed penetrations to fail, which is why standing seam outlasts corrugated metal by decades and sheds snow, rain, and debris better than any shingle.

Not on a house. The noise people remember comes from bare metal over an open barn frame. Over solid decking, underlayment, and attic insulation, a standing seam roof is no louder than asphalt — and it is considerably better at shedding hail without cosmetic damage.
