What siding materials does Three Stone install?
James Hardie fiber cement in lap, board-and-batten, and shingle profiles, plus Norandex vinyl and engineered wood. We are a James Hardie Select contractor, which is what allows the full ColorPlus finish warranty to be registered on your home.
How long does siding last?
James Hardie fiber cement is warranted 30 years and routinely outlasts it. Quality vinyl runs 20–40 years depending on exposure, and engineered wood sits between the two. Fiber cement holds up better to Tennessee humidity and hail than vinyl, which is why most of our replacements use it.
How much does siding cost?
The drivers are square footage, how many stories, the profile, and whether the existing siding comes off or is covered. Vinyl is the least expensive; James Hardie fiber cement costs more up front and lasts substantially longer. Rotten sheathing or trim found during tear-off is quoted separately rather than buried in the number — estimates are free and itemized.
What is the best siding for Tennessee weather?
Fiber cement, for most homes here. It does not soften in summer heat, resists hail far better than vinyl, and is not a food source for the moisture and insects that come with Middle Tennessee humidity. Vinyl remains a sound budget choice on sheltered elevations.
Can I paint my siding instead of replacing it?
If the substrate is sound, yes — and we do both, so we have no reason to push you either way. Paint is the cheaper answer for tired color. Replacement is the right answer once boards are cupping, splitting, or holding moisture, because paint over a failing substrate fails with it.
How long does a siding replacement take?
Most homes take three to seven working days depending on size, stories, and how much rotten sheathing turns up behind the old cladding. We wrap and flash as we go, so the house is never left open overnight.
Can siding be replaced at the same time as a roof?
Yes, and it is usually cheaper and cleaner to do both together — one mobilization, one dumpster, one set of flashings detailed correctly where the roof meets the wall. It also avoids paying twice to protect the same landscaping.
